Stelton was formed by Niels Stellan Høm and Carton Madelaire in 1960, initially to market sports shoes and gloves. The firm later moved into the manufacturer of tableware, especially items for serving food and drink. Their breakthrough came in 1967 with the launch of the Cylinda line. Created by Danish design legend Arne Jacobsen, these serving accessories were named for their cylindrical shape. With their brushed steel finish and specially designed handles, Cylinda products became a huge success and garnered a slew of awards, including the Danish Industrial Design Award and the International Design Award.
